At 3,475 m, Barú rises above everything else in Panamá. On a clear dawn, the Pacific and Caribbean can both be visible from the summit.

Air Panama flies from Albrook (PAC) in Panama City to David (DAV), generally about twice daily. Flights are often quoted at 45–55 minutes; allow around an hour on the timetable.

Look for the twin communication towers and the Super Centro Isabel shop at the Pan-American Highway junction. The road to Boca Chica passes through Horconcitos.
The useful little detailThe highway turnoff and Horconcitos village are separate points. The distance is an approximate planning range to the junction. Use the arrival guide for the turns, and ask us to help with your transfer.

Can BREEZE arrange island, fishing and wildlife trips?
Yes. BREEZE is a small budget hostal that also arranges trips. Some we run ourselves; others we book with local captains we trust. Send your dates, group size, interests and budget on WhatsApp and we’ll set it up, confirming price and inclusions first.
Are there scheduled ferries from Boca Chica to the islands?
No. Island journeys use arranged or chartered boats, not scheduled ferries. Even the short Boca Brava crossing needs a boat and an agreed return pickup. Ask BREEZE to arrange your trip.
What is the closest and cheapest island day out?
Isla Boca Brava is about 200 metres across the bay, roughly five minutes by boat for the nearest crossing. It is usually the cheapest island day out, with jungle trails, howler monkeys and toucans. Prices depend on the crossing and what you arrange.
How should I read the distances and travel times?
All estimates start in Boca Chica and are one way unless stated otherwise. Road times mean driving, not buses with connections. Boat times vary with sea conditions, boat and landing. When can I see humpback whales in the Gulf of Chiriquí?

Can I visit Coiba National Park as a normal Boca Chica day trip?
The practical launch point is Santa Catalina in Veraguas. From Boca Chica, allow roughly 210 km and about four hours by road to Santa Catalina, then about 1–1.5 hours by boat to Coiba, depending on the landing. Plan a separate stay there. Ask us to help fit it into your onward journey.
How far are Boquete and Volcán Barú from Boca Chica?
Boquete is about 103–109 km by road, or 2–2.5 hours driving each way. Volcán Barú requires a further, separately planned summit trip by guided hike or suitable 4×4. The road time to Boquete is not the time to reach the summit.
How much is entry to the Gulf of Chiriquí Marine National Park?
Budget about US$5 per person in cash and confirm the current fee when your trip is arranged. Ask whether park entry, boat transport, equipment and lunch are included. The commonly quoted park figures are 14,470 hectares, about two dozen islands and 19 coral reefs; this illustration does not show an official boundary.
